Playing Asus2: what goes wrong
Am and A with one finger lifted
Compare Am (x 0 2 2 1 0) and A (x 0 2 2 2 0): Asus2 lifts the finger from string 2, so the open B, the 2nd, sounds instead of C or C♯. With no 3rd it is neither major nor minor.
A chord for A major and A minor
Asus2 can stand in for A in A major or A minor because it has no 3rd. In D major or D minor it is the V chord.
E in the bass
0 0 2 2 0 0 keeps the same two fingers and adds the open low E, the 5th. All six strings ring, which sounds fuller than the open shape.
