Terms and Conditions

You can use The Acoustic Guitarist for free to learn and play guitar. By using the site you agree to these terms: use it for personal learning, do not copy its pages wholesale, and understand that it is provided as is, without guarantees.

Using the site

The tuner, chord, key, scale and tuning pages and the guides are free to use for personal learning, teaching and practice. No account is needed.

You may:

  • use the tools and pages for yourself, your students or your band;
  • link to any page;
  • quote short parts of a guide with a link back to the page.

You may not:

  • copy, republish or sell the site’s pages, diagrams or text in bulk, or present them as your own;
  • scrape the site automatically in a way that puts load on it, or try to disrupt it;
  • use the site for anything unlawful.

Accuracy

Notes, chords, keys and tunings on the site are computed by a tested music engine, and the guides are checked before they are published. Mistakes can still happen. The site is provided as is, without any warranty that it is complete, accurate or always available. If you find an error, please report it through the contact page.

The tuner and audio

The tuner depends on your device’s microphone and browser, and its accuracy depends on them and on background noise. Use reasonable care when tuning: going far above a string’s normal pitch can break the string. How microphone audio is handled is described in the privacy policy.

The site names songs by title and artist only and does not publish lyrics, tabs or song chord charts. Song titles, artist names and trademarks mentioned on the site belong to their owners, and mentioning them does not mean the site is connected with or endorsed by them.

The site’s own text, diagrams and code are © The Acoustic Guitarist (theacousticguitarist.com). Photos credited to other people are used under the licence shown in their caption.

Some pages link to other websites. The site does not control them and is not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. If ads or affiliate links are added, this section will say that some links may earn the site a commission.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the site’s owner is not liable for any loss or damage arising from using the site or relying on its content. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

Changes and governing law

These terms may be updated; the date below shows the last substantive change. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. This does not take away the protection of the consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your own courts where that law allows.
