Playing F6: what goes wrong

F6 is not hard like F

Full F needs a barre. F6 (1 x 0 2 1 x) uses four strings, the open D is the 6th, and no finger has to cover more than one string.

IV6 in C major

F6 is the IV6 chord in C major, a warmer version of F before C or G. It has the same notes as Dm7 (D, F, A, C), so with F in the bass it is F6.

Skip strings 5 and 1

The x marks matter: leave string 1 unplayed and let the side of the index finger lightly touch string 5 so it does not ring.
